TEXAS EPISCOPAL LEADERSHIP UNITES: BISHOP NELSON J. GATLIN ELECTED COUNCIL CHAIRMAN
December 2025 – The Texas Northeast Third Jurisdiction celebrates the elevation of our Prelate, Bishop Nelson J. Gatlin, who has been named the new Chairman of the Texas Inter-Jurisdictional Council of Bishops.
On Tuesday, December 9th, 2025, a significant gathering of the Texas Episcopal leadership took place. The meeting saw 30 Bishops in attendance, including 20 of the 22 Jurisdictional Bishops and a host of respected Auxiliary Bishops. In a powerful demonstration of solidarity and confidence, the Jurisdictional Bishops voted overwhelmingly to elect Bishop Gatlin to lead the Council.
This vote of support is a profound acknowledgment of Bishop Gatlin's distinguished service, wisdom, and steadfast dedication to the Church of God in Christ throughout the state of Texas.
